Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost?
All appointments cost £85. That includes any additional modalities you may need at no added cost.
How does it work?
The number one question people ask me is how does acupuncture work. Taking a look at the acupuncture page of the website can be a good place to start but for specifics around your condition, get in touch.
Can I have acupuncture if I’m pregnant?
Yes! In fact, many of our patients come because they are pregnant and acupuncture can be a wonderful resource for you throughout your pregnancy.
What about the medical treatment I am currently undergoing or medication I am currently taking?
Not a problem. Acupuncture is a non-invasive treatment that won’t interrupt or hinder any other treatments you might be having. In fact, the use of acupuncture alongside some treatments, such as IVF, has been shown to increase success rates and for others, such as anti-depressants, to help manage possible side effects.
At what stage of my fertility journey should I start acupuncture?
Any! And the sooner the better. Some patients start acupuncture just as they begin trying to conceive, to support their health as they try and get pregnant. Others only find acupuncture mid IVF cycle or after failed rounds. Wherever you are, A D Acupuncture can offer support. Educating you about your cycle to optimise your chances of conceiving each month, helping you identify the reasons you are struggling to fall pregnant, finding the right fertility clinic for you if needed and much more is available to patients that need it.
How many sessions do I need?
This is always a tricky question to answer ahead of your first appointment, as it changes depending of the person and the condition. But one thing that stays the same is, acupuncture is cumulative. So each session you build on the work from the previous session. Regular consistent appointments accumulate results. Usually weekly appointments are advised to start with, with results expected to be seen within 1 - 4 weeks of appointments. However the course of treatment may last considerably longer than that. As a generalisation, women’s health and fertility is usually around 3 cycles of weekly treatment.
