Acupuncture needles being placed into a fertility patients abdomen by Alice Douglas

Acupuncture. The treatments are designed to address your specific concerns and bring about positive changes to your overall well-being. Whether you're struggling with digestive health, chronic health, fertility, pregnancy or menstrual health, the aim is to help you find relief and regain control over your health.

Acupuncture is a part of Chinese Medicine and has existed for over 2500 years. Acupuncture is the practice of inserting ultra fine, single use, sterile needles into specific acupuncture points on the body. With careful placement of the needles, based on Chinese Medicine understanding of the body, micro trauma is created. These tiny needles trigger the body’s natural healing response, increasing blood circulation, increasing the production of anti-inflammatory agents and the body’s natural painkillers, and more. As such this can have a more systemic impact on the body, restoring the overall balance. Over its long history, acupuncture has formed different styles. Alice Douglas practices Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) from her clinic in Brockley, South East London.

Acupuncture can be used for a vast array of conditions, with people seeking acupuncture for support with anything from muscle tension to organ disease to mental illness. As a holistic health care system, there are no specifics as to what areas of health it can be used for. Alice Douglas is a member of The British Acupuncture Council (BAcC). The BAcC is the UK’s largest, member-led, professional body for traditional acupuncturists. The BAcC has a huge array of resources and research available for a long list of conditions and disorders. You are also welcome to contact us for specific tailored advice for you and your health. Alice is also a member of the Acupuncture Fertility Network, a professional special interest group, who require their members to have obtained a certain amount of hours in post graduate fertility training.

Acupuncture can only be delivered safely, holistically, and most effectively after a consultation has taken place. This means a conversation about you, all aspects of your health and your lifestyle, your medical history and relevant family medical history. It is only after this that Alice can create tailored acupuncture sessions to bring about transformation for your health and body.

Acupuncture is significantly growing in popularity in the UK, with NICE guidelines now advising acupuncture over painkillers for chronic pain. Nevertheless, this medicine is rooted in knowledge that has been refined over thousands of years. Are you ready to take a step towards tackling your health differently? The first step is getting in touch with us here at A D Acupuncture.

A D Acupuncture prioritises acupuncture that is ethically and sustainably delivered, and we know this is a priority for many of our patients too. Take a full look at our ethics and sustainability pledge here.

“Acupuncture is a holistic cumulative medicine that looks at both the manifesting symptoms and the underlying causes. We are putting out fires while looking at why fires keep starting, we are doing it all!”
